If you’re ever spent any time playing with a litter of puppies then you know that it can be like playing with a school of piranhas! You can be attacked on all sides by sharp little teeth and they really hurt! Yes, puppies bite when they play. Why do they do that?

If you’ve ever spent any time watching children play then you know that they exhibit many behaviors that are a) natural to humans (they cry, they hit each other, they run, they get angry, they laugh); and b) they engage in play that prepares them for things later in life. All of these same things are true with puppies, too.

When you watch young puppies playing you’ll see them attacking each other head-on. You’ll see them ambushing each other. You’ll see them engaging in stalking behavior. All of these behaviors are natural to dogs. They are hunting behaviors. Young puppies practice being hunters, which is one reason why they practice biting things — including you when you try to pet them and play with them. You’re just one more thing they’ve caught.

Of course, puppies also bite when they play because, like babies, they put everything in the world into their mouths. They like to taste things. They like to chew things. They like to use their new teeth as soon as they start getting them.

But, mostly, when they engage in play, they are practicing being grown-up dogs. Whether they are alone or with their littermates, they like to use their razor-sharp little teeth to play.

When you bring your puppy home with you, you will have to teach him that this is not appropriate behavior. His mother and siblings will have begun to teach him some of these lessons. When your puppy played too roughly or bit someone too hard, it’s likely that his littermates stopped playing with him. If your puppy bit his mother then she probably bit him back harder. She may have made him cry out. He would learn from these lessons that it was better to play nice and behave. But, he has to learn the same thing with people.

When you bring your puppy home you should teach him that when he bites you when you’re playing together that you will stop playing with him for a minute. If he bites again, stop playing with him for a longer time. Yelp when he bites you to let him know that he hurt you. If he bites again, stop playing altogether.

If you do this consistently then your puppy will get the message that you won’t play with him if he bites.

Remember that puppies don’t know any better but they do learn quickly. You can teach your puppy not to bite you very easily. You should also be sure to teach your puppy this same lesson if you have children in your household. You will need to supervise to make sure that your puppy doesn’t bite them when playing since puppies don’t always respect children. But if you insist that your puppy not bite, he will get the message.

Does your dog have breath like death warmed over? Do you cringe when she gives you doggy kisses? Is her breath making your kids faint? Then it’s time to do something about your dog’s breath. Luckily, there are some answers.

Dogs can have bad breath for lots of reasons. One of the most basic reasons is because they are eating some very foul things. Do you know what your dog has been eating? For instance, does your dog eat dog poop outside? Does your dog get in the cat litter box? These are two common causes of bad doggy breath and they are both preventable.

If your dog is eating doggy poop outside you should do the following:

1.Make sure you keep your yard picked up. Pick up poop as fast as your dogs make it so they won’t have a chance to eat it.

2.If your dog still finds poop to eat, add some pineapple or meat tenderizer to his food. Both of these ingredients will make poop taste unappetizing to him (as if it needs something to make it taste bad!). Or, you can look for products for this purpose at your pet supply store.

3.Make sure that cat litter boxes are kept in places where your dog cannot get to them, such as a special room for the cat, or in high places.

Finally, check to see if your dog is eating other nasty-tasting things outside. Is he eating dead birds or dead squirrels? If your dog is eating carrion or rotting flesh then it could very easily give him bad breath.

Next, check your dog’s teeth. What do they look like? If you have a young dog then your dog’s teeth should be pearly white. Even older dogs should have teeth that are mostly white, though they may show some signs of wear. If your dog has teeth that are brown, yellow, green or which have obvious cavities or broken teeth; you have likely found the source of your dog’s bad breath. You need to take your dog to the vet. He may do doggy dental work himself or he may refer you to a doggy dentist.

In some cases your dog may simply need his teeth cleaned. This is usually done by giving your dog anesthesia and scaling all of his teeth while he’s asleep. Your dog can also fix any cavities or pull any bad teeth while your dog is asleep. In some cases a dog may need a root canal in order to save a tooth.

Most dogs will need their teeth cleaned by a vet at least once in their lives. Good dental care will prevent bacteria from these bad teeth from getting into your dog’s bloodstream and going to his heart. As your dog ages, bad teeth can also prevent him from eating, so it’s very important to keep your dog’s teeth in good shape.

If your dog’s teeth aren’t at this dire stage you can still make his breath better by starting to care for his teeth regularly. If you brush your dog’s teeth at least once a week with dog toothpaste and a dog toothbrush you can avoid most dental problems and keep his breath nice.

There are also a number of good dental chews recommended for dogs that can help to freshen their breath. Check your pet supply store for dental chews for dogs and other things to freshen your dog’s breath.

Finally, check what you’re feeding your dog. Canned food tends to stick to your dog’s teeth more and can cause bad breath. Dry food may be slightly better from a breath stand point. People who feed a raw diet say that their dogs have the cleanest teeth and the freshest breath.

When you were little and your mom told you not to eat too much sugar because it would rot your teeth, she was exactly right.

Americans, on average, consume about 155 lbs (pounds) of sugar, per person, per year, and we haven’t even started counting starches (carbohydrates) yet.

Research shows that the acid left by sugars remains on your teeth for an average of 20 minutes and eats away at your teeth, which in the long run, may cause permanent tooth damage.

The question then remains of how to help your teeth, so that they aren’t as damaged by these sugars, and what are some ways to cut some sugar out of your diet?

An important thing to remember is that soft drinks contain about 10 teaspoons of sugar a piece. Many people also forget that many fruits also contain sugars. These sugars may in the long run be better for your teeth, but they are still sugars.

To avoid multiple fillings and, in the long run, rotting teeth, watch your sugar intake by eating sugars in a meal. When you eat your sugars in foods prepared with a meal, you reduce the harmful effects it may have on your teeth, because of the extra saliva being produced during mealtimes.

Brushing and flossing your teeth is also extremely important. The dentist probably reminds you every time you make a visit to brush and floss.

Flossing is just as important as brushing, because if you fail to floss, you may miss up to 35% of the cleaning that could be accomplished by a simple flossing procedure.

Calcium helps build strong bones and strong teeth. Many dairy products contain this calcium that your body craves. If you are lactose intolerant remember that you can always get calcium tablets.

Some people have found that eating cheese may also help your teeth, because an ingredient in cheese helps prevent demineralization which causes cavities to form.

The answers to the questions above then have multiple parts and multiple solutions. Be sure to brush and floss twice daily, eat sugar with meals, and don’t forget the essential dairies or calcium in your every day diet.

Regular dentist visits (at least twice a year), can also help prevent tooth decay, especially in children.

Dentists provide an important inspection and cleaning of the teeth that cannot be performed anywhere else, and it is important that you keep seeing the dentist your entire life to ensure the healthiest teeth possible.

Particles left between the teeth can cause decay to the teeth. The other aspect to consider if you do not effectively clean your mouth, bacteria can build up and cause illness.

The alternative to a regular toothbrush is an electric one; there are two types of electric toothbrushes, the oscillo-rotary and the sonic care toothbrush.

The oscillo-rotary is easy to use effective in removing plaque which causes bacteria. This is a rotating brush, the bristle area is round, its easy to use, operates easily just press a button hold is against the tooth and it will rotate brushing each tooth effectively. You need to know how to use it correctly as incorrect usage could cause abrasion on the enamel and the gums to retract.

The sonic care toothbrush works differently, it works by vibration, is designed with a regular brush method. It is effective at activating fluid thus removing deposits left on the teeth. Because of its adapted brushing technique it minimizes the risk of abrasion. It has the added advantage of reducing tooth staining caused by heavy coffee and tea drinkers, and smokers. It is very effective at whitening teeth, and leaves a polished finish that you cant get unless your spend hundreds of dollars at your dentist. It has been clinically tested and is claimed that your teeth will be whiter within 28 days.

Sonic care toothbrush heads should be replaced at least once a month. To prevent abrasion to the tooth enamel you should choose a soft bristle. The sonic care toothbrush is able to reach those hard to get at places, and is capable of cleaning food particles that are stuck between gum and teeth and even between the teeth.

Some models of the sonic care toothbrush have interesting accessories. One is a timer that can indicate the duration of brushing, ad indicator that will automatically block off the oscillations for a few seconds if the user presses the brush too hard against the tooth, or gum area.

One other feature that is important is that some sonic care toothbrushes come complete with a sanitizer, which is important to ensure that your brush remains bacteria free. Regular brushed harbor bacteria between the bristles which are transferred to the mouth.

Placing the sonic care toothbrush inside the sanitizing unit, one press of a button, the toothbrush head is sanitized. Using ultraviolet rays it sanitizes and cleans your brush head to the clinical standards of a hospital.

Sonic care toothbrushes usually come with a compact charger which allows you to recharge your unit; they have a green indicator light which tracks the level of the charge, and a yellow light that will come on when the battery needs to be recharged.

Neglecting your teeth is a costly experience, dental care, treatment and eventually dentures are expensive. Taking good care and effective dental hygiene, using a sonic care toothbrush will effectively help eliminate tooth decay remove bacteria from the mouth, leave your teeth sparkling clean and even whiter. Who can afford to allow neglect to their teeth, regular care and using a sonic care toothbrush will prolong the life of your teeth.

Considering Denture as Your Option in Teeth Replacement
If you are afraid of having some foreign objects embedded in your jawbone and you know for a fact you will never be able to withstand the pain it can cause you during operation, then consider using dentures as an alternative for your missing teeth. If you have lost some of your teeth due to injury or the normal wear and tear that results from tooth decay and periodontal disease, artificial dentures can replace your missing teeth without pain.
Having a denture can benefit not just your appearance but your health also. When you lose your teeth and it took you a long time having your gums fitted with dentures, your face can actually look older than your age because of sagging facial muscles. You can also have a more appetizing appeal since you wouldnt worry about chewing foods that are slightly harder for your gums. You can also speak more clearly if you have dentures and your S will never sound like ish and youre your P will not fi anymore.
The advancement in dental technology has greatly improved the way dentures are made. They are now more natural in terms of appearance and more comfortable to use than before. You can have a partial denture or a complete one depending on the conditions of your teeth. A complete denture can cover the whole of your upper and lower jaw while partial denture covers only several missing teeth.
If you are looking for a denture that best fits and you happen to be in Texas or other nearby districts, you can consider having Austin dentures made by dentists from Austin who really know how to make the best and more natural looking dentures. These things are not to be taken lightly with since dentures can really alter the actions done by your mouth that is why you only have to employ the services of real professionals to handle your dental procedures.
Dentures are not made to last a lifetime but you can help it achieve a longer lifespan if you know how to properly care for it. Also do not forget that you have to return to your dentist for a reline every two years so your dentist can check it and make some necessary adjustments. It is true about dentures that the longer you wear it, your gums underneath your dentures also changes and it sometimes shrinks due to lose of support from inside. Your dentist can help you keep your dentures fit and in place by regularly visiting him for checkups.

We’ve all said it. We have an assistant or employee or team member who is new or a bit slow, and so we decide, as a boss/manager/owner, that it is quicker to do this job myself. And it probably is quicker to do it ourselves, the challenge is that as long as we think and act that way, we’ll always have to do it ourselves!

Doing it ourselves will have some predictable outcomes:

In the long term, it will affect our health
It could affect our marriage and family (or other significant relationships)
It prevents other people learning and growing
It sends the message that we don’t trust anyone
It says to our staff that they will never be as smart as we are
It takes us away from doing the more important jobs we need to be doing
The bright people will eventually leave and go elsewhere, possibly even moving to our competitors and, horror of horrors, maybe even taking some of our best clients with them!

At Teams From Woe To Go, it is our aim to free up the time of owners/managers by a minimum of 30%. To show them how to hand over a whole host of routine day-to-day ‘stuff’, so they can work ON their business and not IN it. However, in order to gain that 30%, they have to be prepared to grit their teeth, and DELEGATE!

Simple, not necessarily easy.

Most owners and managers are reluctant to delegate because they’re terrified people will make mistakes. And people probably will make mistakes initially, until they get the hang of whatever it is you have given them to do. After all, how did you the manager/owner learn?

By making lots of mistakes!

Not delegating is what I call a ‘but’. Buts are fears; and the only way to overcome a fear, is to discover a WIIFM, a What’s In This For Me? Think about that as the manager/owner of a busy operation. Think about what you could be doing differently if you had one day a week (30%) of your time, free from day-to-day, irritating operational problems? Do you think your bottom line might significantly improve if you were:

Out in the market-place talking to key clients?
Working on finding new clients and/or markets?
Brainstorming ideas for new products and services?
Talking to other business owners about possible alliances or synergies?

A better use of your time? Absolutely.

So where to start? You start by:

1.Making a list of all the jobs that bore you out of your brain.

2.If you now think about the cost of outsourcing or taking on someone to do each of those jobs by asking the question, ‘Is this a $15 an hour job, a $25 an hour job or a $50 an hour job?’ I know you will be amazed that most of the jobs on your list are $15-25 an hour jobs. A manager/owner should not be doing $15-25 an hour jobs!

Then you:

3.Ask which of your team members would be interested in learning how to do that particular task (there isn’t much career development in organisations any longer, so often moves are sideways). Make sure when you explain your need to hand various things over to other people, that they understand that this process is also about career development for them. It means that you will be spending time with each employee teaching them how to do various jobs or tasks and developing their skills. This time with your employees is invaluable, it means they get to hang out with you, they get to grow, they get attention and recognition, all things which build employee morale and team spirit. And at the same time, you get to hand over things you shouldn’t be doing. A total win/win situation.

4.You will need to create a plan of action for hand-over otherwise chaos will reign. I always recommend that managers pick the easiest jobs/tasks first to delegate. In fact when a manager creates his delegation list, alongside the hourly rate of that job (I also suggest they estimate how long it will take to teach someone how to do that job or task. Managers are often amazed to discover, that at most it will take an hour or possibly two to teach someone!

5.The process of handing over is:

a.They watch you do the job,
b.You watch them do the job,
c.They then take over the job with you standing in the wings to coach and guide, if necessary.
d.Once everyone is happy, the job is now theirs!

As a manager/owner you should not be doing the $15 an hour jobs! Never, never, never.

One small point – please don’t confuse delegation with abdication. You must be willing to support them through the learning process; to coach, guide and mentor. When the first task is safely handed over (and don’t be surprised if the person ends up doing the job differently or possibly even better than you) you are now ready to hand over one more task to one more valued employee; and so on until you have your 30%.

Then as an owner/manager/team leader, you will be working where you need to be working, on the strategic issues of your business.

It’s as simple as that.

Yes it will take time. Sometimes we have to take small steps backwards to gain a giant leap forward. Just keep remembering your wiifm (what is in this for me?), and the wiifm for you is that 30% of your time will be spent more effectively.

Be prepared to be very surprised at the results of not needing to do everything yourself. You will live longer, be happier, stay married longer and as if that wasn’t enough, your bottom line results should have similarly grown by at least 30% because you are now focusing on the strategic aspects of your role, not the $15 irritations.

Trust in your people, in my experience, they will never let you down.
